Episode 3:
Following Your Heart
How to Choose a Business That Will Bring You Happiness and Fulfillment
Don’t Do This
So you’ve decided that you want to have your own business to support your dream life. And you already have a clear vision of how this lifestyle looks as I wrote/talked about in episode 2.
The question now is, WHAT kind of business do you want to have? This is where most of us got stuck when we want to start a business. There are so many types of businesses you can start but which one?
Most people would start by looking at whether there is a lot of demand for it, how fast and how much it can bring in money.
Well, this is the one method I know don’t work because I used it when I started my restaurant in 2001. Everyone have to eat and there are not many nice restaurants where I live, so there’s demand on this. Since there’s high demand, it should bring me lots of money. Ekkkk wrong!
Now thinking about this again, isn’t it the same reason why most people want their kids to be doctor, engineer or lawyer? Because of the demand and high salaries?
If you want to have your own business because you hate your job, this is NOT the method to use if you want a totally different life.
Your business will be just like the job you hate.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that everything is energy.
So you would understand that how businesses flow to you is about the energy that you are flowing outward to others. In other words, what you’re receiving, and what you’re offering are vibrationally the same.
YOU are your business, your product or service you provide. When you love and enjoy what you do in your business, that’s what you offer to others, and that is what you will receive back to you.
If you have little interest in your product and you do it just for the money, do you think people will have lots of interest in your product?I know you know the answer to that.
So what should you do instead? After I learned this lesson, here are three things I use when starting a business:
Your Life’s Theme
Look at the theme of your life or your experiences. What experiences or themes have consistently shown up in your life? These can provide clues about what kind of business would be a good fit for you.
For example, my life theme is not fitting in with society’s standards. I’m transgender and I don’t want to have a 9-5 job, even though I have a degree in engineering. I also love dogs more than anything, and I even quit my job and moved to a different state for them. Now I’m helping others who face similar challenges through understanding the laws of the universe and creating the life they want efficiently.
If you want to start a business that helps others achieve their goals, it’ll be much easier if you’ve already accomplished what you’re teaching. That way, you won’t feel like an imposter because you’ve been through it yourself.
Your experiences might not always be challenges that you overcame. It might be something that is easy for you. What is something that people would come to you often for help? Or people always praise you or tell you that you’re really good at this.
Be cautious when taking this approach though. What you’re good at is not necessarily what you’ll enjoy doing or what excites you.
If you do something that doesn’t excite you, you’ll get exhausted and that’s one of the causes of burnt out.
Interests Stacking
Combine your interests. What are you interested in or curious about? I learned this from the course Habit of Ferocity by Steven Kotler.
List 25 things that you are really interested or curious about. Be specific. For example, instead of “dogs”, “how/why dogs always make us happy?” or “communicate with dogs telepathically”
Then find three or more of those 25 things that can be combined.
Example, if you are interested in hip-hop dancing, you love training dogs and you’re curious about creating an online business, you can learn or do (if you already have the knowledge and skills) all these three as one business model. Create a blog or online course teaching how to dance hip-hop with your dog!
What Breaks Your Heart
The third way to look at when researching what business to start is to think about what easily breaks your heart. I learned this from Dr. Tererai Trent. I know it’s more of a negative approach, but remember, if you know what you don’t want, you know what you want.
When something can easily break your heart, you know it will also make you really happy when you get to have this thing. So, is there a particular issue or problem that really gets to you? Maybe it’s animal cruelty, poverty, or environmental degradation.
Your business can be a way to make a positive impact on the world and address the things that matter most to you. For my case it’s dogs. I really love dogs and whenever I see dogs in need, it breaks my heart. So I know my business will always relate to dogs. Indirectly if not directly.
I just need to be very aware of where my focus is. I must put my focus on what I want for dogs instead of the issues I don’t want.
Now you know at least three ways to pick a business that’s best for you.
It is best if you can combine all the three elements when deciding on what business to start. And I suggest before you do the above, meditate or feel good first. Be in high vibration.
Don’t do it when you’re worried about money or angry at your job or your life. Previously, I would start to plan my business ventures or take actions when I was angry or stressed at my job. It had gotten me nowhere.
Now when I’m thinking about taking action, I ask, “Does this thought or idea come from worry or desperation? Or does it come from inspiration and excitement?”
If it came when I was worried, I wouldn’t do it immediately. I take a few deep breaths, meditate or talk myself into a good feeling place.
Once I feel good, I think about that idea again and if it still excites me or calls me to do it, then and only then I’ll do it.
The rule of thumb is, “Feel good and then …. “.
I hope these tips help you get clarity on the best business for you, right now. Don’t get stuck thinking about business that you will run your whole life. We’re evolving beings.
One of the best things I did after learning about the laws of attraction is stop thinking about what my life would look like 5 years or 10 years from now.
I just think and be proud of what I already created in my Vortex and live my day as thankful and joyfully as I can.

I love videography and photography. Creating content about dogs is combining at least 3 of my interests.
